Carlon Elizondo​

Carlos Elizondo Mayer Serra is professor at the School of Government and Public Transformation at Tec de Monterrey, Campus Mixcoac, in Mexico City.

Has holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Colegio de México, a Master and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom.

He was General Director of Center of Investigation for Teaching Economics (CIDE) from 1995 until he was appointed as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mexico to the OECD in May, 2004, position held until November 2006. In 2007, he returned to CIDE as professor, until 2016 when he joined the School of Government at Tec de Monterrey.

His lines of investigation are comparative politics, political economy, and the relationship between law and politics. In recent years, his research has focused on examining the tension between governing democratically and achieving economic growth. His most recent book, Los de adelante corren mucho: Desigualdad, privilegios y democracia, discusses this tension in the context of the American continent.

He writes a weekly op. ed. article at Reforma, on Sundays. Together with Federico Reyes Heroles, hosts a weekly TV program, Primer Círculo, every Monday at ADN 40.
